This Privacy Policy explains what information is processed when you visit SILENT HILL: Townfall Guides (https://www.townfallguides.org) and what choices you have.
Who runs this site
This is an independent, unofficial fan site for players. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Konami, Screen Burn Interactive or Annapurna Interactive. You can reach us through the Contact page.
Summary
- There are no user accounts, sign-ups, comments or forms. You can read every page without giving us any personal information.
- We use Google Analytics 4 on the live site to count visits and see which guides are useful, only if you click Accept in the cookie banner. If you reject or ignore the banner, Google Analytics is not loaded.
- The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes technical request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the pages.
- The homepage has the official reveal trailer from YouTube. It only loads when you click Play.
- The site shows no advertising.
- We do not sell personal information.
Information you send us
We only receive personal information directly from you if you choose to email us. Messages to our address are forwarded to our inbox by Cloudflare Email Routing. In that case we receive your email address, any name you include and the content of your message. We use it only to read and answer your message and to handle your request (for example a correction, a copyright notice or a privacy request), and we keep it only as long as needed for that. Please do not send passwords, payment details or other sensitive information.
Analytics: Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service provided by Google, with the measurement ID G-EHH93RR0R2.
- Only with your consent: the analytics tag is loaded only after you click Accept in the cookie banner, and only on our live site at
www.townfallguides.org. Before you choose, or if you click Reject, no request is sent to Google Analytics and no analytics cookies are set. It is never loaded on local copies or preview versions of the site. - What it collects: information about your visit, such as the pages you view and how long you stay, the page that referred you, general device, browser and operating system information, screen size, language, and approximate location derived from your IP address. Depending on the analytics settings, it can also record interactions such as scrolling or clicks on links to other sites.
- What we do not send: the site does not send your name, email address or any account identifier to Google Analytics, and the site code does not use Google Analytics for advertising.
- Cookies: Google Analytics sets first-party cookies named
_gaand_ga_followed by an ID. By default these last up to 2 years. - How we use it: we look at aggregated reports (for example, which guides are read most and from which countries) to decide what to write and fix.
- Retention: our Google Analytics account keeps event-level data for 14 months, after which it is deleted automatically; aggregated reports may be kept longer.
- Google signals: turned off in our Google Analytics account, so analytics data is not linked to Google accounts or used for ads personalisation.

How to change your choice: use the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page. If you change from Accept to Reject, the site deletes the Google Analytics cookies it can reach and reloads the page so analytics stops. You can also install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Hosting: Vercel
This is a static website hosted by Vercel. When your browser requests a page, Vercel processes technical information such as your IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time of the request, and may keep server logs, in order to deliver the site, keep it secure and diagnose problems. See the Vercel Privacy Policy. The site code does not include Vercel's own analytics scripts.
Embedded YouTube video
The homepage shows the official reveal trailer from YouTube (a Google service), using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (www.youtube-nocookie.com). Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you click the Play button on the trailer. Once you do, YouTube can store information on your device and collect information about your viewing under the Google Privacy Policy. The "Watch Directly on YouTube" button opens YouTube in a new tab.
Apart from Google Analytics and the YouTube trailer, the images, stylesheet and scripts on this site are served from our own domain.
Cookies and local storage
The site's own code does not set cookies. It stores one item in your browser's local storage, tf_analytics_consent, to remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so the banner does not appear on every page. It contains only the word "granted" or "denied".
Other cookies come only from Google Analytics (after you accept, on the live site) and from YouTube (after you click Play on the trailer). You can change your analytics choice with the Cookie Settings link in the footer, and block or delete cookies and site data at any time in your browser settings.
Links to other sites
Our guides link to other websites, such as Steam, the Epic Games Store, Konami, the PlayStation Blog and third-party guide sites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
Advertising
This site currently shows no ads and contains no advertising code. If we decide to show ads in the future, we will update this policy before any advertising is turned on.
We do not sell personal information
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with the service providers described above (Google, Vercel, and Cloudflare and our email provider if you write to us) for the purposes described in this policy.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information.
- EEA and UK: you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
- California: you may have the right to know what personal information is collected about you and how it is used, to delete or correct it, and to opt out of its sale (we do not sell it). We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
To make a request, email us using the details on the Contact page and tell us what you are asking for. If your request is about an email you sent us, include the address you used. We may need to ask for information to confirm the request is yours.
Analytics data is pseudonymous: it is tied to a random cookie ID rather than to your name or email address, so we usually cannot find a specific person's analytics data from their name or email. To stop analytics collection, click Reject in Cookie Settings, or use the opt-out add-on above.
International processing
Google, Vercel and Cloudflare may process information in the United States and in other countries where they or their service providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when the way the site works changes, and change the "Last updated" date at the top. We will update this policy before enabling any advertising.
